Deciduous trees; branchlets slender, villous, terete; buds brown-tomentose outside, 1 cm long, 0.6 cm broad, scales glabrous at margins.
Leaves alternate, oblong, sometimes oblanceolate, 5-10 cm long, 2-3.5 cm broad, thick chartaceous, caudate-acuminate at apex, acute to obtuse at base, glabrous and brown above, midrib slightly elevated above, elevated and yellowish-brown tomentose beneath, lateral veins 4-6 pairs, slightly concave, impressed above, elevated and yellowish-brown-tomentose beneath, veinlets indistinct, glabrous above; petioles 5-6 mm long, pubescent beneath.
Inflorescences umbellate, 5-6-flowered, axillary, involucral bracts 4, rounded, pubescent outside, caducous; pedicels 2 mm long, hirsute; staminate flowers with oblong tepals, yellowish-green, obtuse, slightly pubescent outside; stamens 9, filaments subglabrous, 2 mm long, anthers 2-celled, introrse, 3rd whorl of stamens with 2 glands, glands 0.5 mm long, stipitate, 4th whorl of stamens reduced, columniform; reduced ovary oblong-ovoid, 1 mm long, glabrous, 1.5 mm long, hirsute at base; pistillate flowers somewhat smaller; tepals oblong-triangular, obtuse at apex; reduced stamens 9, the 3rd whorl of staminodes glandular, glands 0.5 mm long; ovary ovoid, glabrous, 1 mm long.
Berry ellipsoid to ellipsoid-globose, glabrous, apiculate at apex, 8 mm long, 5 mm broad, deep red at maturity; pedicels 5 mm long, tomentose.
